ZAGATRatings & Review

"One of the last bastions of haute cuisine", the No. 1 for Food in Chicago is Streeterville's French "créme de la créme"
of "very formal" "fine dining", where chef Chris Nugent's "sophisticated", "beautifully prepared and presented" fare "is en pointe" as is the "extremely attentive service" and "remarkable", "francocentric" wine selection; the "quietly elegant", "clubby townhouse" ("once a private dining club") is a "place out of time and space" with "white linens", an "upstairs fireplace" and "gorgeous flowers", and though it's "trés pricey", it's "perfect for a special, romantic occasion."

Elegant restaurant with gracious professional service in attractive small rooms. Four course format includes nice selections for each course, plus a few extras which come along here and there. Scallops were excellent, the salad beautiful to see and tasty, and an unusual Japanese fish very nice. The wine list includes some wonderful choices. Overall it's expensive but well worth the price, and the quality has remained very high over time.

An absolute gem. Romantic and quiet. Excellent food (though menu could change a bit more often). Fine wine list, though high. Worth the price. Same quality as Blackbird, but quieter, and more fun than Trotter's (though not as grand).
